A Close Shave

Lets talk about the short and curlys today. I'm talking about going into the pits.
The Gillette Venus Swirl razor and Olay Violet Swirl Shave Gel.

A couple of years ago while looking at photos of the amazing Amanda Palmer, I had a thought. Why do I shave my legs and underarms? It's uncomfortable. I've been married for years and he doesn't care about the smooth skin thing. I don't wear dresses or skirts or tank tops. So why do it at all? And just like that I stopped. I enjoy not shaving or even having to think about it.

But now summer is coming and this product trial came up so I thought, what the heck give it a shot.

One of my biggest discomforts with shaving was that it was always so difficult to get into all the little pockets and curves of the underarms. The Venus Swirl has this little ball that pivots the head. And with 5 blades it shouldnt have a problem with any level of deforestation. The Olay Shave Gel is a surprisingly thick and creamy lather. I wasn't expecting that so I used WAY too much. So if you use it just remember that a little goes a long way. The scent and feel were both very pleasant though.
The pivot head did just as it should and actually got into all the little bits very nicely without me having to do any extreme yoga to reach.

All in all I would recommend this product. Easy to use, smooth close shave. Pretty purple color ;)
Will I be going to the regular shave routine again? Likely not. But if I did, I know where I'd turn.

*I received this product for free in exchange for my testing and review.

Pinch Me I must be dreaming!

Last month I got an e-mail about this website PinchMe.com that sends you a box of products to sample and review. After signing up there are a few surveys and a profile to complete so that they can match you to the samples that their partners are looking for someone to try.
I filled out the forms and on sample day I had a few items I could request. So of course I did!
About 4 weeks went by and I finally got my package in the mail. Very exciting to say the least (it doesn't take much to excite me).

Here is what I received:

  • Mr Sketch Christmas tree scented marker
  • Sheba Perfect Portions Cat food
  • Expo Ultra fine dry erase marker
  • Curl Keeper Ultimate hold with frizz control
  • Olay fresh Outlast cooling white strawberry body wash
  • Nakedwines.com $100 voucher

I'll be posting a full review of each item as I use them. Should be a lot of fun. The website only gives out the samples once a month, and you don't always qualify for things they have on offer. This month I didn't qualify for anything. But I've got my calendar marked to try again next month!

Rock The Lunchbox

Recently I joined www.influenster.com and I was chosen to participate in the Rock The Lunchbox campaign. I was sent free samples of several items to use in a lunchbox and review. The photo above shows the lunch I came up with using some of the items. Looks pretty yummy to me.

This box rocks Honest Kids grape juice, Annies chocolate chip bunnies crackers, Rudi’s gluten free cinnamon raisin bread with sunflower butter, cucumber shapes and crackers and yogurt from an Applegate Halftime lunch kit.

I'd have to say, I probably wouldn't purchase the Rudi's bread again. It's very dense and dry. Since we don't have any actual NEED in our house for gluten free products, we'll just stick with our usual. But the Annies bunnies are an awesome wholesome alternative to those lil fishes we all know.

All in all this was a wonderful campaign. I look forward to being able to post more reviews in the future.

Welcome!

Welcome! I'm a full-time homemaker with 3 beautiful girls and a very patient husband. I love to cook and to craft. Finding time to do either can be difficult when keeping up with the family schedule.
On this blog I plan to provide tips, recipes, patterns, activities, local deals and ideas, as well as documenting my success (or failure) at any of the above. I hope you'll join me as I figure out what life has in store as I'm entering my 40's (eep!)
